About Me

Hi there, I’m Runy.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of North Carolina.

I received my Master of Social Work from Western Carolina and have a certificate in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University.

I currently see adults who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, spirituality, and relationship issues. Although I do offer Christian counseling, I am committed to offering the highest quality clinical services to all whom I serve, regardless of religion or whether the person receiving assistance is seeking specialized counseling from a Christian perspective. I welcome all!

Life Experiences

I am married to a wonderful man, have a two energetic toddlers and another one on the way! My story has been filled with endless grace, loss, and hope. For most of my life, I have wrestled with understanding suffering and how God’s grace and mercy is sufficient in all seasons.

The majority of my childhood to early adult life has been marked with heartache, trauma, cultural-bondages, and for a long time I wrestled with understanding how I could be deeply loved by a God who I have never seen and make sense of all that I have experienced in light of being a Christian. As God has faithfully walked alongside of me throughout these years, I have come to witness how healing and hope are possible and how God cares about every aspect of our being. I have had seasons where I could not understand my circumstances nor what it meant to be a follower of Christ. I have seen pain, discouragement, and suffering (I still do). Through God’s grace, love, peace, and mercy, I have been able to see the loving heart of Jesus for the broken-hearted. I have experienced deep loss and an immense amount of heartache and have also been a recipient of God’s goodness.

Past Work Experience
I have worked with adults who have experienced depression, anxiety, trauma, relational issues, and adults who have needed coping skills and are in the middle of life transitions. I have also worked with individuals who have experienced sexual assault and domestic violence. The courses I took through Liberty have helped shape an integrative approach towards counseling. Spirituality is a component of the counseling process and understanding the dynamic of cognitive-behavioral therapy and other modalities will help provide understanding through the Christian Worldview.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in a variety of places! I worked as a medical social worker for a few years and have some experience in vocational rehabilitation and long-term care facilities. I was also a barista in college!
